Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies

The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies program, also known as Liberal Studies at some universities, provides students with a well-rounded, liberal studies education. Program structure gives students the flexibility to customize their degree around a theme, topic of interest or a track to meet personal and professional goals. 

The program is ideally suited for adult students who have completed an associate's degree or those who have earned a substantial number of college credits from other institutions and are interested in completing their degree. 

 

Bachelor of Professional Studies - Health Administration

The healthcare field needs good managers to keep business and operations running smoothly. Healthcare administrators plan, direct, coordinate and supervise the delivery of healthcare in large facilities and group medical practices. Because the structure and financing of healthcare is changing rapidly, there is a need for administrators who are prepared to deal with the integration of healthcare delivery systems, technological innovations, a complex regulatory environment, and improved efficiencies and quality of care delivered.

This degree concentration prepares students interested in entering the healthcare field in an administrative capacity. According to US Department of Labor statistics, the healthcare field is projected to grow faster than average and job opportunities are good.


Bachelor of Professional Studies - Information Technology

The Bachelor of Professional Studies degree is designed as a degree-completion program. Credit hours earned through associate degree programs, other universities, military transfer credits, and/or credit awarded for certifications may be applied toward the 120-credit hours needed to earn the degree. The degree consists of a common general education core, upper division major requirements and electives, as well as an applied technology concentration combined with elective credits to meet the 120 credit hours for graduation. The bachelor’s degree in Professional Studies provides an opportunity for a seamless transition from the associate degree in order to help meet an individual student’s educational and career goals. Students work closely with their academic advisors in determining their curriculum requirements.

The Information Technology concentration is designed for individuals working in the field who desire to move into a management position. The program develops proficiencies in software, operating systems and information network management. It also qualifies graduates to work in most information systems departments in business, industry or government.


Bachelor of Professional Studies - Organizational Leadership

Private sector, public service, non-profit and other agencies are constantly in need of individuals who demonstrate management and leadership skills. While career opportunities are wide-ranging and varied, the qualifications required are similar.

The Bachelor’s of Professional Studies degree is designed as a degree-completion program. Credit hours earned through associate degree programs, other universities, military transfer credits, and/or credit awarded for certifications may be applied toward the 120-credit hours needed to earn the degree.

The degree consists of a common general education core, an upper division professional core, as well as an organizational leadership concentration combined with elective credits to meet the 120 credit hours for graduation. The bachelor’s degree in Professional Studies provides an opportunity for a seamless transition from the associate degree in order to help meet an individual student’s educational and career goals. Students work closely with their academic advisors in determining their curriculum requirements.

The Organizational Leadership concentration especially benefits those in human relations, marketing, business communication or other management areas who are interested in career advancement possibly at their current workplace.


Bachelor of Professional Studies - International Organizational Leadership

As US firms expand their businesses abroad, many will need skilled professionals who can formulate market entry strategies, provide advice on legal concerns and assist with organizational and administrative issues. Increasing competition and globalization also means that job opportunities will exist for individuals who have a comprehensive knowledge of international business, foreign cultures and languages.
